News From Tired Hearts:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NOTICE OF RESIGNATION FROM William James:
Effective immediately, I am stepping down, and will no longer be serving in any editorial capacity for Tired Hearts Press. I will be helping to assemble the final product for the remaining manuscripts in the publishing queue, including forthcoming selections from this year’s reading series, but I will not be making any decisions regarding who is selected as a finalist. All books currently slated to be published will be printed, but as of now I am removing myself from the editorial board and abstaining from making any executive decisions. I would like to thank all of the poets who took a chance on this idea, and allowed me to be involved in the process of sharing their work with the world. I am utterly confident that Jennifer-Leigh Oprihory and Karolina Manko can quite capably handle things on their own from here on out. I wish Tired Hearts Press all the best from this point forward.

Introducing Our Poets:

We are pleased to announce the lineup for Tired Hearts Press' inaugural 2013 campaign. We had an overwhelming response to our call for open submissions, but at the end of our reasing period, these titles stood out the strongest - due not only to the caliber of the work presented, but also in their focus relating to the mission statement of our press. We put forth the challenge to poets - give us the work you believe will change, the work that you believe will SAVE lives.

These six poets, among all the submissions we recieved, clearly answered the call.

About Our Press:

Tired Hearts Press publishes poetry with a pulse.

With a firm belief that art has the power to save lives and that words can be a tool for positive change, we at Tired Hearts Press have set out to publish writers whose ethos embody the stuff of humanity, perseverance and survival and whose work challenges the status quo to see the world in a different light.

Our lives have both been saved by words at different times and in different ways.

This was the most logical way we could figure out to give back.

Rather than being the stuff of testimony, our aesthetic is soul-shaking poetry
unafraid to let its skeletons show, carefully-crafted work that embraces
mortality and metaphor in the same breath.

Our hearts are tired - tired of presses putting a stronger focus on appearances
than authorial aims, claps than catharsis, and that value pretense over poetry.

It ends here.
